Novanym’s an interesting competitor. Novanym’s gone the small but highly curated domain name collection route with 700+ names versus the 10,000+ of my other two quality competitors of Brandroot and Brandbucket. It’s also a privately owned collection which offers advantages in terms of negotiating and coordinating domain pushes.
The founders are Britains who have worked in specifically in branding for 20 years. This is interesting as the Brandbucket founder worked in the tech space but did have training in French I believe and Brandroot’s founder worked as a web designer and marine. I got into the field after promoting my legal practice led me to local seo and then to domaining once I listed a couple on Brandbucket.
I find that some of Novanym’s name can have an elegant Britishy feel like Kingbourne and Lexingham . The site also sometimes displays the price in pounds which is quaint. Also Novanym offers a choice of three logos.
Novanym’s primary search feature would be a very well curated category selection. Interestingly I didn’t see a price filter, though you can search by price.
Their collection tends toward the evocative with names like Corbital.com or Fintota.com where the names contain either real word or syllables that are evoke meanings associated with real words.
There homepage splash screen is very different than most brandable domain sites with a focus on presenting categories rather than their domain inventory.
It’s not a vast selection like Brandroot or Brandbucket but it’s definitely a site to check if you are looking for a good brandable domain name.
