Nameperfection started to sell inventory that didn’t make it for listing on Brandbucket. Brandbucket’s the original brandable domain name site. Started in 2007 by Margot Bushnaq, a startup techy person in Los Angeles, the site paired well curated domain names with catchy logos for an easy shopping experience.
At the time, Brandbucket was incredibly selective about the inventory they’d list. Perhaps too selective in that my sales of non-listed domains wasn’t terribly bad. They switched to a more lenient approach to listings and the number has zoomed to upwards of 40,000+ names.
I feel that the overall quality of Brandbucket has perhaps slipped a bit and the names can be a bit cumbersome to search. However, the site has an incredible UX and handy search features that can be found by clicking refine on the top right hand side. In addition Brandbucket has a name my business feature where they crowd source selection of names that fit your idea. To me this is an ideal compromise between inventory quality and stocking a diverse inventory. For example Brandbucket carries a good inventory of extra letter misspelling which is a popular category but one I don’t care for for reasons. However, as the largest site in the area I think it’d be remiss if they didn’t have a category with a significant demand. (https://www.brandbucket.com/name-my-company/)
If you are looking for a super premium name or a four letter domain name then Brandbucket offers a selection that surpasses any other brandable domain name site and is truly a unique product offering my view. Favy.com, Vodo.com, and Vudy.com are some of their catchiest four letter names. They also have truly jaw dropping premium inventory like announce.com or keo.com.
They also have an excellent inventory management system whereby domain names are forwarded them that is automated. This means that their inventory and stocking system is always up to date and should virtually eliminate the possibility that someone let a domain drop but forgot to remove the domain listing.
So if you are shopping for a brandable domain name and can only check out one site other than my own, I’d definitely go with Brandbucket. If you have time to check out more sites than I also like Brandroot and Novanym’s selections.
